At AVS, we understand the needs of your automotive paint. It takes more than the occasional wash and dry to maintain paint health and luster. Paint correction is a multi-step process focused on restoring a vehicle's paint to a flawless, like-new condition by removing surface defects. This involves a combination of techniques, tools, and products to eliminate imperfections such as swirl marks, scratches, and oxidation. The process typically begins with thorough surface preparation, followed by machine polishing and refinement, and concludes with protection.
The scuffs and swirls add up. Our paint correction process includes:
Washing and Decontamination:
A thorough wash using pH-neutral soap and a microfiber mitt removes loose dirt and grime. This is followed by decontamination using a clay bar or iron remover to eliminate embedded contaminants like fallout and road tar.
Masking:
Sensitive areas like plastic trim and rubber seals are masked off to prevent damage from polishing compounds and pads.
Compounding:
A cutting compound and a cutting pad are used with a dual-action (DA) polisher to remove deeper scratches and defects. The pressure and speed are carefully adjusted based on the paint condition and the specific products being used.
Polishing:
A finer polish and a polishing pad are used to refine the finish, removing any hazing or marring left behind by the compounding stage. This step enhances gloss and clarity.
Multiple Stages:
For more severe defects, multiple polishing stages may be necessary, using progressively finer polishes and pads.
*final cost depends on size of vehicle and individual processes needed to desired results.
